Elko Fundraiser

The Elko County Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser was a wonderful success, bringing the community together in support of services that benefit older adults and caregivers in our region. The evening was filled with great food, music, and strong community spirit, and the funds raised will directly support critical programs such as transportation, homemaker services, respite care, and volunteer companionship in Elko County.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Service Coordinator Jeana Rea and her family for their leadership, time, and dedication in organizing this event. Their hard work and commitment were instrumental in making the fundraiser both successful and enjoyable for everyone who attended.

We are also deeply grateful to our generous sponsors and community partners who made this event possible: Silver Tree Dental, VFW Post 2350, Kinross, Total Eye Care, Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital (NNRH), Elko Senior Center Staff, Giddy Garden, Elko High School Orchestra, Bonanza Produce, Star Hotel, Luciano’s, Raley’s, Blach Distributing, Evergreen Floral, Shelby Mae Esthetics, Express Car Wash, Full Range Physical Therapy, Jan Baker, Vickie Goicochea, and Cheryl Poll. Their support and community involvement truly made a difference.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, and supported this fundraiser. Your continued support helps ensure that vital services remain available to seniors and caregivers throughout Elko County.

With gratitude,
Molly Walt, M.A.Ed.

Honoring Our Amazing Volunteers

As we reflect on our accomplishments, we are proud to recognize and celebrate the incredible volunteers who each contributed more than 200 hours of service between November 2024 and November 2025. Their commitment represents hundreds of moments of kindness, reliability, and care that made a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults, caregivers, and the broader community.

During this time, volunteers provided transportation to medical appointments, offered companionship, supported caregivers, and served at what we call “volunteer stations,” including libraries, museums, hospitals, the sheriff’s office, and other community locations. Their service helps government entities and nonprofit organizations operate more efficiently by reducing costs that would otherwise be incurred for paid staff, while ensuring that essential services remain available to the public.

Contributing more than 200 hours of service over the course of a year is a significant commitment and reflects a deep dedication to serving others and strengthening our communities. We are deeply grateful for the time, compassion, and energy these volunteers shared. Their service embodies the spirit of volunteerism and demonstrates the lasting impact individuals can have when they choose to give their time in support of others.

RSVP Stories

H. Hanks: Helping Me Stay Independent

I have been using RSVP for less than a year. I do not drive and live outside of town, so this service is extremely valuable. It allows me to get to the grocery store and attend medical appointments without difficulty.

The drivers are safe, kind, punctual, and professional. The staff in the Carson office are understanding and helpful, and they consistently ensure I get where I need to go. Follow-up from staff is timely and supportive.

RSVP helps me remain independent, so I do not have to rely on or burden others.
