You Could Be the Person Someone Is Hoping Will Be There!
Imagine being an older adult and going to a doctor’s appointment alone. You may be worried about what the doctor is going to say, trying to remember your questions, taking in new information, and figuring out what you are supposed to do when you leave. For many seniors, especially those living alone, this can be overwhelming.
That is why I am excited to announce a new volunteer opportunity through Nevada Rural Counties RSVP: our Medical Chaperone Volunteer Program.
Our Medical Chaperones accompany older adults to their medical appointments, providing something that can be just as important as transportation—a caring person by their side.
While our transportation volunteers provide safe, escorted transportation to and from appointments, Medical Chaperones provide companionship and reassurance during the appointment itself. They can help with check-in, take notes, listen to instructions, assist with discharge information, pick up prescriptions, or simply be there as a comforting presence.
Sometimes, it is the simple things that matter most.
A few hours of a volunteer’s time can help reduce anxiety, ease loneliness, and give a senior greater confidence in managing their healthcare while maintaining their independence and dignity.
And the best part? You don’t have to be a medical professional to be a Medical Chaperone.
We provide training, flexible scheduling, and ongoing support. What we are looking for are caring, dependable people who are willing to give their time and be there for someone who may otherwise have to face that appointment alone.
This new opportunity is just one of the many ways RSVP volunteers are making a difference throughout Nevada’s rural communities. From transportation and senior companionship to respite care, volunteer stations, Nevada Golden Connections, and our other programs, there is a place for people with many different interests, talents, and schedules.
If you have ever wondered whether a few hours of your time could really make a difference, I can tell you the answer is yes.
You could be the person someone is hoping will be there.
I invite you to learn more about our programs and discover an opportunity that is right for you. And if the Medical Chaperone program speaks to you, we would love to have you join us.
Thank you to all of our volunteers who continue to show up, lend a hand, and remind our neighbors that they are not alone. Your generosity of time is what makes RSVP possible.
With Gratitude,
Molly Walt, M.A.Ed.

The Torch Has Been Passed
For many years, Friends To All has brought joy, companionship, and the spirit of the holidays to seniors throughout our community. We are grateful for the trust placed in RSVP to continue this meaningful program and build upon the incredible legacy Friends To All has created.
The torch has officially been passed, but the mission remains the same: making sure our seniors know they are remembered, valued, and cared for.
As we look ahead to this year’s Senior Santa Visits, we are excited to continue bringing smiles, connection, and holiday cheer to seniors across our community.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Friends To All over the years. RSVP is proud to carry the torch forward!
